Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, urban designers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients both nationally and internationally.

Due to our expanding portfolio of design projects and long-term framework expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for an Architect to join our Architectural design team. We are looking for an individual who is looking to further develop their existing Architectural design experience within the Buildings sector to be based in our Birmingham, Manchester or London Office.

Cities and Places deliver exciting and challenging projects across a broad range of sectors including transport infrastructure, defence, education, research and technology. This opportunity is for an Architect or Senior Architect with strong design skills to provide design delivery and discipline integration of architectural design into projects delivered by the Cities and Places business.

Responsibilities:

A key enabler behind our growth and work winning strategy is the development of the Architecture team in the UK. To support this strategic objective Cities and Places are recruiting a number of engineering and architectural professionals to work within our design teams in the UK and be an integral part of delivering high-value solutions to our clients.

We are looking for an Architecture Senior Associate Director/Director to join our business unit in the Cities & Places UK Architecture team. With work across the UK and Europe, you will work alongside our Architects within a multi-disciplinary design team set-up, delivering design solutions across multiple sectors from Public sector, Defence, Transportation, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and Mixed-Use development. You will be required to lead design teams and to manage the Architectural delivery on a range of projects.

We deliver projects across all stages of the building design and construction process from initial strategic briefing, where client objectives and feasibility studies are conducted; through to development of conceptual and technical proposals, to construction phase delivery.

Key requirements for this role are strong design leadership skills, strong communication skills with a collaborative working and positive, can-do attitude. Strong project management and technical skills with the ability to control all aspects of project delivery. Strong design leadership, coordination and collaboration skills with the ability to work and assume a key role within multi-disciplinary design team are an essential aspect of this role. You will need to be able to work independently and take design responsibility for decision-making and output deliverables within your project team.

As a leader in the Architectural design team, you will play a crucial role in the promotion of effective working methods across projects and offices, establishing high value architectural solutions and engaging with the Jacobs team at all levels to promote the efficient delivery of architectural design.

Here's What You'll Need:

Qualified Architect in the UK with ARB professional registration

Professional experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary design and construction projects.

Degree in Architecture and/or Urban Design

Higher education qualification to RIBA Part 3

Knowledge of BIM based delivery including Autodesk Revit

Strong design, drawing and written communication skills

Advanced English language skills

Ability to lead Architectural teams on large multi-disciplinary design projects.

Experience of preparing bids and proposals

Strong inter-disciplinary design coordination skills.

Strong problem solving, attention to detail, with a desire to come up with practical solutions.

Highly self-motivated with ability to work unsupervised.

Team player able to provide leadership and direction to project teams.

Proactive working mindset with flexible-working approach - able to work on a wide range of design projects.

Knowledge of Revit and software platforms and tools including BIM 360, NBS Specification

Experience of working collaboratively with clients and managing positive client relationships

Desirable:

Knowledge of multiple design sectors including complex infrastructure projects

Ability to travel within the UK and Europe to periodically to support project delivery.
