Role

Our Project Support Office (PSO) is at the heart of our business ensuring we deliver to our customers to time, cost and quality. The PSO is the fulcrum for all departments across tpgroup ensuring we have the right information, controls and tools in place to deliver our projects.

As PSO Lead you will be working as part of a small Project Support Office team reporting to our Operations Director. The role will involve working with a range of internal stakeholders to provide support for the effective delivery of our projects.

The successful candidate will manage a small team of project professionals to govern tpgroup s project performance against our Project Life Cycle Processes and related procedures under direction of the Operations Director.

The PSO Lead will also be required to provide ongoing administration of project procedures, providing support to the Project Managers and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure adherence to all aspects of Project Lifecycle Processes and Project governance.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with key stakeholders within tpgroup to ensure the PSO is both effective and efficient, delivering benefits and value to our growing business.
  • Proactively engage with Account Leads and Heads of Capability to develop effective Management Information.
  • Creating and maintaining project records, ensuring relevant toolsets remain up to date.
  • Provide governance to best practice project delivery standards.
  • Providing support to our Project Managers to manage cost with associated data and metrics where required.
  • Collating project performance metrics from various data sources to report against cost, schedule, milestone delivery and other KPIs.
  • Issue project updates to clients as appropriate.
  • Lead/implement/design the maintenance of overarching procedures for the governance of projects within the framework of our existing Quality Management System.
  • Develop and maintain visual management tools to support Project delivery and reporting.
  • Lead the creation of standard report formats and the generation and management of project KPIs.
  • Support the business with administrative tasks associated with managing and delivering our projects.
  • Mentor / develop PSO team members.
  • Support project and operational meetings.
  • Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.

We are looking for:

  • Previous experience leading a PSO/supporting a PMO and establishing best practice project management, ideally in a defence consulting business.
  • Communication skills, stakeholder management, ability to steer reviews at all levels of the organisation.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational capabilities.
  • Working knowledge and experience of project management processes.
  • Successful track record of process / business improvement
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong IT skills, specifically in the areas of MS Excel.
  • Experience within a technical consultancy environment.

Role specific:

  • Excellent understanding of Project Controls processes including Project Reporting, Cost Management, Scheduling, Risk & Opportunity Management and Baseline Change Management
  • Experience in using Project Controls toolsets for reporting.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse multiple data sources of management information and present to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in problem solving to support effective project issue resolution.
  • Project analysis / reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience of process development / implementation.

Essentials to work with us:

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. DV clearance highly desirable
  • To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years UK residency.
