What is the role?

At m/SIX we work with a broad range of FMCG organisations and whilst the ambitions and challenges of each brand are unique, we recognised an opportunity to create an FMCG centre of excellence. This is a bespoke business hub , launched in June 2021, responsible for all m/SIX FMCG clients . The team is designed to delive r deep category knowledge and insight, centralised within one team of category experts. We are made up of a broad range of specialists from Comms Strategy to Media Activation and Ecommerce.

The Planning Director will lead strategic comms planning across a number of our clients within the FMCG portfolio, including but not limited to Britvic Uk & Ire, SCJ, Fage and other brands .

The role of the Planning Director is threefold:
  • Client and account lead - with responsibility to ensure we are servicing our clients brilliantly and that we have positive and productive relationships with our agency partners and our specialist team s at m/SIX.
  • Media planning lead , work ing alongside the Strategy Director or independently to ensure that brilliant strategy culminates in creative and effective media plans.
  • The management of workflow in the team and ensuring that the Account Manager and Account Executive are supported to deliver brilliant work.
  • For Britvic specifically , m/SIX is the cross-agency team lead which means the Planning Director needs to lead a multidiscipline team to ensure excellence of output that drives tangible business outcomes.
Where is the role based?

What will be your responsibilities?
  • Lead on end-to-end Communications Planning projects - be it annual planning or bespoke planning projects. They give c lear direction to the agency(s) team to ensure our approach is fuelled by insights/data and tells a clear story - pulling in cross-team and senior support as and when required.
  • Build a deep understanding and be well versed of the client categories, competition and client's business in the UK and Ireland in order to understand the challenges and opportunities they face.
  • Be able to develop and have a POV on managing the portfolio across various briefs and ensure a fully integrated approach
  • Ensure that specialists are working effectively across projects, monitoring our delivery of the client scope and tracking it on an ongoing basis
  • An excellent presenter, able to communicate effectively with senior clients with gravitas
  • Overseeing the Account Manager to m anage reporting requirements, quality controlling output and ensuring actionable insight is delivered.
  • Overseeing account financials to ensure accuracy and timely management and maximise profitability and efficiency ( e.g. reconciliations , payments, billings, financial tracking).
  • Working with the Business Director /Client Lead to look for opportunities for driving revenue growth
  • Create the conditions for brilliant work and champion that work externally to ensure outstanding client service
  • Maintain good relations with external agencies, internal teams & media owners to understand what services and products exist that could help deliver our client's business KPIs
  • Demonstrating understanding of wider WPP partner agencies and exploring opportunities to collaborate for the benefit of clients and m/ SIX
  • Responsible for the management, coaching and development for the Planning Manager and Planning Executive.
Who are you?
  • You are currently a n AD/Planning Director looking for a fresh new challenge or a senior manager acting up already
  • You possess a high level of enthusiasm; you care about the business and want to make a difference.
  • You possess a strong comms planning background with the ability to translate a communications strategy into a media planning recommendation, considering best formats, weighting, flighting and activation tactics to deliver against core objectives of a campaign.
  • You bring a thorough understanding of all media touchpoints and have the ability to define the tasks for media and content, develop channel roles and investment priorities based around tasks.
  • You have the a bility to create a good, well thought through deck which requires minimal input from colleagues to make it 'client ready'.
  • You have a strong understanding of campaign evaluation , knowing how to set and measure against both media, brand and business KPIs .
  • You bring a n in-depth knowledge and application of core media tools including AdDynamix , TGI, YouGov & MediaExplorer .
  • You always think beyond Paid media - able to take a view upon owned and earned channels

  • You are someone with substantial media planning experience
  • You will have considerable experience of running planning processes - both within your agency team and with agency partners to deliver integrated comms solutions.
  • You will have a strong understanding of communications planning and the flexibility to adopt/adapt different approaches dependent upon the needs of the client and brief.
  • You will have excellent client leadership and influencing skills. Previous experience gained on FMCG/retail brands would be a distinct advantage.
  • You will have a proven track record in growing both your client's and the agencies' business.
  • You will consistently demonstrate curiosity and have a drive to make yourself better at what they do and increase your knowledge.
  • You are someone who has a passion to learn and maintain a detailed knowledge of media and market trends
  • You will be highly collaborative and facilitate a productive working relationship across the agency as well as someone who is passionate about leading and managing people.
  • A self-starter who works well in a fast - paced, team-oriented environment
  • An effective communicator with stron g interpersonal skills and articulate presentation skills
  • Someone who takes pride in the work they deliver and looks for driving excellence as a standard.
