Role summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the project design of all Mechanical packages, ensuring compliance with both project specifications and industry standards for designs on Multi Fuel Generation Projects Worldwide. The Mechanical design engineer also assists in the development and improvement of engineering processes and best practices and supports the business development group with concepts and development engineering.

This role has responsibility for quality, process, and the high standards our clients expect.

Ideally the role will be based in the Southeast of England. However, hybrid working is acceptable ie home with travel to the offices in Ireland and London plus client sites and supplier premises.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing Design Delivery Schedule along with client, Project Manager, Design team and consultants.
  • Develop design of Mechanical for production of drawings and schematics for all Mechanical services, containment and controls
  • Liaising with BIM/Cad team for drawing productions
  • Reviewing and developing Mechanical specifications
  • Closely track design deliverables to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Participate in design meetings and provide continual input to optimize design and minimize futile work.
  • Project prioritisation of design, assignment and management to designers
  • Collaborate on new design issues/changes and research projects with team.
  • Procurement package input/familiarity with local and international standard/regulations/technical queries from sales/project teams/service/operations/Concept/FEED/detailed engineering deliverables/Mechanical Authority/operational/commissioning procedures

Skill-set and Experience

  • Mechanical engineering background
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, engineering
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the engineering design & construction industry
  • Design experience working on Gas/Diesel generation equipment preferred.
  • Experience working on a BIM environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and Organisational skills
  • Flexibility to travel from home base Essential
