We are looking for an Internal Audit Senior Manager - Digital & Technology to join our team

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

This role is part of the Technology and Data Internal Audit Team at Wellcome provides a unique opportunity for the right candidate to lead and support in a broad range of activities. This includes audits of IT controls across change, access and development processes, Investments services technology (e.g. Bloomberg/JP Morgan), enterprise-wide platforms (eg. cloud technology) and service solutions (e.g. workday), third party management, openstack data centre environments, data warehousing and analytics and information security. It also provides opportunities to attend / observe Board and Audit Committees, including direct exposure to the technology Leadership Teams at Wellcome, its subsidiaries and partners.

What will I be doing?

You will be leading the development, delivery and reporting activities associated with the annual Technology Audit Plan for Wellcome. As well as supporting the delivery of risk based internal audits covering the operational and financial activities of Wellcome, its subsidiaries and certain of its significant grant recipients based on the Annual Audit Plan or requests from management as required

The role may include a small amount of domestic travel, and international travel to locations in Africa and Asia

As an Internal Audit Senior Manager - Digital & Technology, you will:

  • Lead on the production and delivery of the IA digital and technology strategy, together with delivery of end-to-end audits. This will include determining audit scope, test plan and ensuring workpapers are produced to the highest standards, as well as lead on all digital and technology (D&T) matters. You will provide subject matter expertise and insights on audits across the organisation and its subsidiaries, and act as the primary point of contact for D&T matters with the internal audit co-source partners.

  • Produce clear and concise reports, detailing audit findings, risks and agreed recommendations and continually evaluate and review the plan to ensure that it remains relevant and risk focused

  • Oversight of co-sourced providers, ensuring that the quality and timeliness of audit planning, fieldwork, data analysis, audit work papers, and reporting and preparing and presenting status update reports to management and Board committees

  • Monitoring and reporting on management's progress in implementing internal audit recommendations using agreed dashboards / reporting mechanisms as well as developing effective relationships with senior stakeholders (both internally within Wellcome and its subsidiaries and external partners), providing insights, guidance, challenge and corrective action, without preventing growth or commercial performance

  • Support Head of Internal Audit in developing the risk based annual Internal Audit Plan as well as undertaking special investigations / projects as specified by the Head of Internal Audit and report the findings to senior management and support in delivering audits to other areas within Wellcome (including subsidiaries)

  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

Is this job for me?

We are looking for someone who :

  • Has a broad understanding of core and emerging technology concepts (including digitization), aligned to the strategy and operations of Wellcome and its subsidiaries.

  • Extensive post-qualification experience in practice or managing in-house/co-sourced technology audits.

  • Detailed understanding and experience auditing IT controls across change, access and development process aligned to the standards expected from Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, Investments services technology (e.g. Bloomberg/JP Morgan, Enterprise-wide platform as a service cloud technology, Enterprise level software as a service solutions (e.g. Workday), Third party management, Openstack data centre environments, Data warehousing and Information security

  • Strong understanding of technology risk management, governance, compliance, and internal control best practice and good commercial acumen with some level of business exposure

  • Experience working with and influencing senior managers and excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders

  • A CISA/CRISC/CISM/CISSP or other relevant industry qualification

Our Hybrid Way of Working

We understand that our colleagues have commitments and personal interests outside of work and we strive to build a flexible working environment, in which people can perform at their best. We are currently working 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from our Euston Road offices (as part of our hybrid Ways of Working) with the remaining 3 days working either remotely or in the office.

From 1st September 2024 we will move to 3 days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) with the remaining 2 days working either remotely or in the office.
