Housing Strategy Manager

Are you passionate about shaping the future of housing in one of the most iconic and diverse cities in the world? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Housing Strategy Manager in Westminster.

300 - 350 per day.

Monday - Friday, 36 hours per week.

General Specific duties:

• Have responsibility for establishing and coordinating the processes for reporting against performance and the delivery of the strategy across Housing Services and Commercial Partnerships working with colleagues from across the service
• Facilitate scrutiny of strategic outcomes by leadership teams and through effective reporting - underpinned by robust performance management and governance frameworks.
• Support integrated and collaborative working across the team, department and wider council to providing general housing strategy support.
• Leading on and supporting the delivery of critical Housing projects.
• Produce and present consistently high-quality reports in consultation and to the requirements of the Leadership Team.
• To deploy resources to maintain and update the Department's understanding of the national, local and organizational context in which Housing Services operate, to facilitate decision making, service transformation and commissioning.
• To manage and advise upon political processes, ensuring quality, clarity, and consistency in the Department's interactions with elected members and senior officers.
• To scope the demands and maintain oversight of external inspection frameworks, ensuring that appropriate preparations are made in advance and that service improvement activity arising from completed inspections is identified and implemented.
• Ensure appropriate resources are in place to coordinate and support external inspections when announced. Act as a key point of contact during inspections to ensure that demands are responded to and progress and issues are effectively communicated to stakeholders.
• To ensure resources are available to provide advice and expertise on consultation, engagement and co-design of services or service improvements with residents and partners.
• To ensure issues of diversity and equality inform service development and changes, including strategic advice and guidance on meeting statutory responsibilities.
• To develop the Department's risk register and ensuring appropriate reporting through the various governance forums.

• Excellent communication skills and advanced skills in articulating information in writing and through presentations
• Proven ability in providing efficient management of and accountability for staff, including recruitment, development, and management to improve performance.
• A track record of working as part of cross-functional project teams, and ability to manage the delivery to a high standard.
• Applies judgement in managing risk, supporting their senior leadership to deliver on commitments.
• Knowledge and understanding of external inspection frameworks which impact upon Housing Services with experience of managing or supporting inspections.
• Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with staff at all levels, corporate colleagues, elected members and external organisations.
• Experience and understanding of local authority governance, decision making and scrutiny as well as performance reporting against Council Plans.
