Job Summary:

The availability of materials in the right place at the right time is critical to the smooth running of the Company s telecoms operations. This newly created role will oversee the Purchasing and Control of Materials to ensure this happens. This is a very broad role. The individual will need to be comfortable getting their hands dirty dealing with deliveries and issuing stock to crews. They will also need to be happy negotiating with suppliers and dealing with senior managers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with Planning, Project Management, Operations and the Stock Coordinator to understand current and future material requirements, mostly telecoms.
• Create and maintain close working relationships with suppliers.
• Gain a good awareness of supplier and product lead times.
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely deliveries of the correct items.
• Work with end users to ensure regularly purchased items are fit for purpose.
• Carry out regular reviews to identify high volume items where it may be possible to negotiate volume discounts.
• Similarly identify suppliers with high spend with a view to negotiating discounts.
• Actioning purchase requisitions after ensuring appropriate coding and approvals are in place.
• Be at yards to receive and appropriately store deliveries.
• Ensure Virgin deliveries are receipted on the Tracktrans system.
• Ensure yards are kept tidy and stock secure.
• Issue stock to crews ensuring the appropriate paperwork has been completed and Tracktrans is updated.
• Identify individuals or crews requesting an unusually high number of individual items or total items with a view to spotting bad working practices or fraud.
• Working with the FD, Accounts and end users to identify and make improvements to the Purchase Order System and processes.
• Any other tasks that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Telecoms or Construction sector experience
• Purchasing Experience
• Previous experience of yards/stores
• Strong attention to detail
• Good IT skills
• Excellent communication skills

Education and Qualifications:

• Full clean UK driving Licence
• Ability to operate a forklift.
