An experienced Financial Controller is needed to join Zoetis UK & Ireland looking after PetMedix, a brand of Zoetis, the world's leading animal health company to be based in Surrey, on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 to 6 years of experience in a financial role.

About the Role

The PetMedix Financial Controller manages the financial reporting functions of the PetMedix UK business. They conduct period-end close, US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) reporting, Balance Sheet reconciliations, and Statutory and Tax reporting.

They are responsible for the technical accounting and accuracy of financial reporting for the PetMedix UK business. They work with Zoetis Finance Shared Services (ZFS) to ensure all reporting and accounting requirements are submitted within the necessary timeframes.

The person in the role is responsible for coordinating and maintaining an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the company's UK business. They help maintain the internal control environment, monitoring internal controls over the company's financial reporting processes to ensure regulatory and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all period-end closing financial reporting activities for the PetMedix UK business in conjunction with ZFS
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, Statutory accounting standards, Zoetis policies and procedures and relevant regulations
  • Prepare Annual Statutory Accounts and provide supporting documentation to assist with external audit and review
  • Co-ordinate and review quarter-end reporting activities
  • Ensure an effective internal control environment. Coordinate the planning and lead the execution of local internal SOX and external audit work
  • Interact with government agencies, fiscal authorities, financial institutions and industry organisations as necessary
  • Respond to requests for statistical information for US and local authorities and any ad hoc requests
  • Calculate quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations required for consolidated financial reporting
  • Support R&D tax credit analysis and filing by working with an external tax consultant (RSM)
  • Prepare quarterly corporation tax analysis and submit appropriate payments
  • Review annual corporation tax returns and provide supporting analysis to tax advisors
  • Responsible for ad hoc analysis and special projects as directed by the UK finance lead

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline; accounting, finance, economics
  • Professional accounting designation; Chartered Accountant (ACA), Certified Accountant (ACCA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or similar
  • IT literate; Able to use standard business software, communication tools and accountancy systems
  • Post-qualification experience in a financial role of at least 4-6 years, preferably with a multinational company
  • Knowledge of multi-national financial reporting requirements and accounting operations
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Experience in tax accounting, internal controls and associated accounting pronouncements
