An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client in the automotive sector for an Environmental Policy Manager to join a small team, involved in the shaping of policy and regulation in environmental areas of relevance to the automotive industry. Our client is a trade association who work to support and promote the benefits of the automotive industry in the UK and abroad so you'll get excellent exposure to the sector and a chance to really influence key stakeholders.

The role will develop and lead on projects and dossiers around circular economy, battery regulation, chemicals, waste and resource management and you'll liaise with external stakeholders, including government departments, representing the views of the members to drive forward the agenda in these topic areas, within the UK, Europe and globally.

Key responsibilities within the role will be to provide influential expertise on core dossiers and lead related regulatory work at UK, EU and UN level, supporting departmental objectives and services and business strategy. In addition, this role will liaise and consult with member companies, government and key stakeholders on all relevant subjects and documents, to solicit member input to create an evidence base and draft influential proposals, positions, responses, papers and presentations as required.

This is a niche opportunity for candidates who have experience in Circular Economy or Life Cycle Assessment combined with regulatory experience within the automotive industry to join a dedicated team and work with organisations across the UK and further afield.

Candidates will be degree qualified in an environmental or science discipline, and you'll have experience within the automotive sector ideally (wider transport sector may suffice) or government or regulatory bodies acting as a technical lead or in practical engineering or project management capacities. It's expected that you'll also be well networked and can lean on this network as and you need to and be able to keep abreast of any changes in legislation and technical developments.

The role will require excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to liaise with industry representatives and key stakeholders and to present complex information in an engaging format. You may also present at events and conferences, as a technical expert allowing you to influence and engage.
