Job Purpose
To deliver property projects as required such that they are customer focused, on time, within budgets and carried out in accordance with agreed standards and policies.

Delivery of Property Building Projects
Reporting to the Project Manager, The post holder will be expected to manage projects for repair and replacements in support of the Facilities Management team. The Building Surveyor may be expected to manage directly, projects carried out by external suppliers, as well as managing projects where a supplier acts as the Contract Administrator (CA) and/or Project Manager to another external supplier. Assist in preparing user brief requirements, delegated authority requests, budgets and timeframes to deliver projects. Ensure all projects are carried out in accordance with LFB objectives and policies and make recommendations as appropriate. Also ensure they are carried out to agreed timescales, budgets and standards (including performance targets) and in liaison with the Property team requirements.

Professional and Technical Advice
You will be expected to provide advice on the client brief, feasibility studies, costs and contribute as required to value engineering and design reviews for the project works. The role will also consist of preparing cost estimates, drawings, schedules, specifications and contract documentation for the design, installation, upgrading, maintenance and repair of the projects and/or instructing external suppliers to carry out these functions as required.

Administration
The post holder will prioritise programme workloads and work unsupervised on a day-to-day basis within the constraints set by the agreed programmes for the projects. They will also ensure coordination of project works with any other building works being undertaken by others in Property Group and the Authority's external FM Integrator. Representing the Property Group, you will carry out site visits and inspections when necessary.

Required Experience and Qualifications
Possession of a qualification in a construction related discipline and/or relevant extensive experience at an appropriate level and/or specific contractual knowledge. Also working towards a surveying related professional body: RICS, MCIOB, etc. Experience of managing professional services in respect of building project management in a multi-disciplined environment, including small to medium sized projects up to a nominal value up to £250,000. Experience of producing cost estimates, monitoring budgets and providing detailed financial information. Experience of using a range of Information Communication Technology applications and an awareness of the ways in which IT applications can be utilised in the context of the work, so that added value may be given. You must also have knowledge of good Health and Safety practices applying both in an office environment and on building sites, together with an awareness of the relevant legislation and regulations and awareness of equality issues together with a commitment to ensuring appropriate policies are implemented and adhered to.
