MAIDSTONE BOROUGH COUNCIL Biodiversity and Climate Change Manager Salary: £42,761 - £46,601 Location: Maidstone, Kent Contract: Permanent Full Time Are you passionate about the environment and protecting it for future generations? We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Biodiversity and Climate Change Manager to lead a small team and continue to deliver our ambitious strategy. You will bring expertise in decarbonisation and biodiversity, and experience of project management to deliver key projects to bring about change in the borough. About the Role This a corporate role at the heart of the Council working closely with services and elected members, you will be responsible for driving forward the council s Biodiversity and Climate Change Strategy. Delivering a range of high-impact projects, across our action plan, you will seek opportunities bid for external funding to support delivery. You will lead our ongoing projects to decarbonise our operations; you will develop business cases, conduct research, and identify future projects for delivery. This role requires high levels of communication with external and internal stakeholders to promote and ensure progress of the action plan and associated projects. Bridging gaps with senior managers and heads of service to ensure successful implementation or that new ideas and approaches are considered. This is a full-time position on a permanent contract. You will have experience of working in an environmental sustainability role with experience of leading and managing projects and translating theory into practice. Additionally, you ll have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong professional partnerships and collaborate to leverage interest and investment in projects and activities. The ability to work sensitively in a political environment and tactfully influence and challenge decision-makers.
