Job Introduction

BBC Audience Services is now looking for an Audience Research Executive to join the Audience Feedback Team.

Last year Audience Services spoke directly to nearly half a million people. Can you help us make sure the voice of our audience is heard within the BBC and has an impact on decision making?

You will use your analytical skills and experience to investigate and report feedback from viewers and listeners. That could be examining the reaction to our biggest television and radio programmes or looking at queries about key services like the BBC iPlayer. The role aims to ensure the audience is put at the heart of the BBC.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will analyse and interpret feedback from our audience and support the Research Manager and Senior Research Executive. You'll help pull insights from a large database and assist in bringing the views of the audience to the wider BBC.

You will run the majority of our day-to-day reporting. These will be read across the business and you will be communicating with all levels of the organisation. Your role will be to help respond to any subsequent questions or follow up analysis and provide context and understanding of the issues.

You will also help run a large customer satisfaction study and ad hoc market research projects.

You will also be working closely with our external outsourcing partner who maintain and update the data we use.

Are you the right Candidate?

This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for championing the voice of the audience and who has some experience of analysing qualitative or quantitative data to bring insight to stakeholders.

Good written and oral communication skills are important. As is a knowledge of the BBC's output across the board. You'll be someone inquisitive who wants to understand who, why and what drives people to get in touch with the BBC.

You have some knowledge of market research and an interest in the issues that might create a reaction from our audience. An interest in customer services would be a bonus. Ultimately you will have a genuine enthusiasm for helping ensure licence fee payers have a say on the products, services and output the BBC provides.

In addition we are looking for

  • Good knowledge of the BBC's output and some understanding or interest in why people might contact the BBC or the issues which generate a reaction from our audience.
  • An interest in customer service, experience of working on a Customer Satisfaction survey or similar, large tracker or market research project.
  • Experience of using a data mining tool such as SQL Server, Power BI or Tableau or the ability to display an aptitude to learn a similarly complex system.
  • Ability to deal with pressure and work to deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

About the BBC

Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief.
