Build Recruitment is currently partnered with a leading cladding and facade focused contractor with their search for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

Are you an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for a dynamic and challenging role? Our client is seeking an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their facades team, supporting the project delivery team to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget. This position offers an exciting opportunity to reduce costs, mitigate risks, and enhance commercial opportunities in façade focused projects, all while adhering to legal and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Management: Oversee the project's commercial aspects from sales handover to final account closure. Manage project measurement, surveying requirements, and contract variations. Assist in resolving contract disputes.
  • Budget Management: Contribute to financial planning and project monitoring. Conduct monthly financial performance forecasts and reviews, including valuations, variations, and cash flow.
  • Procurement: Source materials and services required for projects, either from within the group or third-party suppliers, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Setting KPIs: Measure and monitor project performance to ensure targets are met and budgets are adhered to.
  • Safety, Health, Quality, and Environment Management: Collaborate with the Project Manager and HSEQ Manager to ensure safe, budget-compliant, and timely project execution.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with all project stakeholders regarding commercial progress.
Candidate Profile
  • Skills and Attributes:

    • Strong communication, organisational, and planning skills.
    • Excellent written and literacy skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
    • Experience in the vertical access or construction industry is beneficial.
    • Flexibility with working hours to meet customer expectations and targets.
  • Competencies and Qualifications:

    • Full UK Driving Licence Essential.
    • HNC or undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Built Environment Essential.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) Essential.
    • Experience with JCT, NEC, and CM contracts Desirable.
    • CSCS Card Desirable.
Location and Travel

This full-time position is based in the Chelmsford office, with regular travel to project sites predominantly in London.
